NW wakes up in shock of 12 people dying in one accident

North West Community Safety and Transport Management MEC, Dr Mpho Motlhabane says the Province is in a state of shock following a terrible accident that claimed the life’s of 12 people just 10 km from Wolmaranstaad to Ottosdal.

It is reported that, a Toyoya Quantum that had 14 p eople collided with a bakkie that had 3 people by the time of the accident. Eleven people from the qu antum and the driver of the bakkie died on the scene and 5 people survived with critical injuries.

MEC Motlhabane said it is saddening to have lost su ch a huge number of people in one accident. “A death of one person is enough but now loosing 12 pe ople in one incident indeed this is too much. We would like to send our heartfelt condolences to the families of the bereaved and wish speedy recovery to those survived with injuries,” said Motlhabane.

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
